Hypnotherapy is a researched complementary alternative therapy treatment. Hypnotherapy occurs when a person is in a deeply relaxed state, called hypnotic trance. When in hypnotic trance a person’s subconscious mind is able to hear the therapists voice, allowing words used by the therapist to empower the client to make the desired change in their life for themselves.
Your clinical hypnotherapy session or programme, is personalised to your requirements, empowering you to make the change you desire.
Your desired change may be to stop smoking, control weight, manage stress, control a phobia or other areas of life you may wish to change in a positive way. Some changes require more than one session, and this will be discussed on an individual basis to develop a personalised plan for you, empowering you to achieve your desired change.
However, it should be noted that hypnotherapy is not appropriate for people with severe mental illness or diagnosis such as schizophrenia or experience of psychotic episodes. In these instances, medical consultation should be sought via a GP or the NHS.
It is advised contact lenses are not worn during hypnotherapy sessions.

What to expect at your first hypnotherapy session
I will use the information we discuss during your free telephone consultation to develop your personalised hypnotherapy plan, focused on your desired change e.g. weight management. We will discuss and agree your plan at the beginning of your first appointment. Your first appointment duration is an hour and a half.
You will be guided into relaxation and a hypnotic trance using gentle words and phrases, but you will always be in control and have nothing to fear. Following your hypnotherapy, you will be out of hypnotic trance feeling relaxed, calm and refreshed.
After your hypnotherapy we will discuss the next steps of your plan, depending on the issue you wish to resolve and the number of sessions we have agreed.

Hypnotherapy can be effective for weight management by changing the way the subconscious mind relates to types of foods eaten and eating patterns.
Hypnotherapy can help you to develop healthier eating habits and patterns, which can result in controlling weight.
We would usually plan for three hypnotherapy sessions, with two weeks between the sessions, empowering you to make the changes you desire.
There may be occasions when we agree that further sessions would be beneficial in supporting achievement of your weight management goals.

Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present in the moment, being aware of your thoughts, feelings and focusing attention on where you are and what you are doing without over reacting, or being overwhelmed by people or events around you.
Living and working mindfully can improve both mental and physical health as the impact of using mindfulness reduces stress and its negative impact on the mind and body.
Mindfulness applied in the work place can improve employee focus, ability to manage stress and support positive work place relationships.
